How to Spot a Phishing Email Checklist:

Want to check if an email is a phishing email?
Use the check boxes below if you’re new to examining phishing emails.
The more check boxes you select, the more likely the email you’re inspecting is a Phishing email! Delete it!

1. You do NOT know the sender

2. The sender’s email address does NOT match the website it claims to be from

3. Does the email have strange attachments or Unfamiliar links?

4. Has Outlook detected an email is UNSAFE?

5. Does the email appear from a large company that needs you to click on a link?

6. You checked the sender’s website address in your web browser and it looks sketchy

7. The subject line or body contains a spelling error or bad grammar?

8. Anti-Virus solicitations claiming your computer is infected

9. Is the email is too good to be true? Won a contest?

10. The email request personal information such as passwords or credit card numbers

 

Remember. At first glance, if an email does not look “right” or feel like you have to examine the email more closely, beware. It usually is a phishing email.
